What Do I Need to Transfer a Domain to miHosting?
Transferring a domain means miHosting becomes your registrar, handling all changes and renewals. Here's everything you need to start the process.
When we talk about transferring a domain, we mean that miHosting will become your domain registrar, so that all changes and renewals for your domain will be handled through miHosting, with the help of our domain experts.
Transferring a domain is simple. You’ll need:
- The domain’s transfer code. It’s provided by your current registrar. See: Who gives me my transfer code
- The domain must not be locked. You can check whether a domain is locked at www.whois.sc — search for your domain, and once you have the result, look for the section that says Status, which should read ACTIVE. In any state other than Active, the domain cannot be transferred. To change the status, you can do so through your current registrar.
- The administrator must be willing to transfer the domain, since they’ll receive an email with instructions to confirm the transfer.
- It’s wise to request transfers at least 15 days before the domain is due to expire. This avoids unnecessary tension and service downtime. See: How far in advance should I request the transfer of my domain?
