Create an email account in cPanel
Learn how to create an email account with your domain from cPanel in just a few steps.
Introduction
From cPanel you can create email accounts with your own domain, such as info@yourdomain.com or sales@yourdomain.com. After that, you can use them from webmail, Outlook, Thunderbird, Android or iPhone.
Steps to create the account
- Sign in to cPanel.
- Find the Email section.
- Click Email Accounts.
- Click Create.
- Select the correct domain if you have more than one.
- Enter the mailbox name, for example
info. - Create a strong password or use the password generator.
- Set the mailbox space if cPanel asks for it.
- Review the details.
- Click Create.
How to access the new mailbox
You can access it through webmail or from a mail program using:
| Type | Server | Port | Security |
|---|---|---|---|
| IMAP | mail.yourdomain.com | 993 | SSL/TLS |
| POP3 | mail.yourdomain.com | 995 | SSL/TLS |
| SMTP | mail.yourdomain.com | 465 | SSL/TLS |
| Alternative SMTP | mail.yourdomain.com | 587 | STARTTLS |
The username must always be the full email address.
Common problems
I can’t create the account
You may be selecting the wrong domain, using an invalid mailbox name, or hitting a limit on your plan.
I can’t log in to webmail
Make sure you’re entering the full email address and the correct password for that account, not your cPanel password.
The account receives email but can’t send
Check the SMTP settings in your mail program. It must use authentication with that same account.
Conclusion
Creating an email account in cPanel is simple: open Email Accounts, choose the domain, define the mailbox name and password, and save. You can then use it from webmail or set it up on your devices.
