How do I install Wordfence? Application firewall for WordPress

How do we install Wordfence?

1. Access the Plugins section

Hi, today we want to answer a question we get a lot, which is how to protect a WordPress site.

WordPress is one of the most widely used content management systems in the world, and it’s also one of the most attacked. So it’s essential to protect it well. For that, there are many tools, and we really like one called Wordfence — a blend of ‘word’ and ‘fence’ that act as a barrier.

Wordfence lets us block many of these attacks, and it also lets us scan for problems in our current installation.

So, to install Wordfence, it’s very simple. First, we go into WordPress, head to the plugins — Wordfence is a plugin. What we’re going to do is install it. We add a new one, and here the plugins screen comes up with many of the best-known plugins.

What we’ll do is search for ‘Wordfence’ in Spanish. We search, and the first one that appears is Wordfence. As you can see, it’s a very widely installed and appreciated plugin, judging by the five stars you see here. We click install, and immediately, a few seconds later, it shows us the window that installation has completed. Here it is, the plugin has been installed.

It’s very important to activate the plugin. We activate it and it’s now installed in our installation, in our WordPress. Here we have Wordfence Security. It’s now active, it’s now installed.
