Is it compatible with the tools I already use with Amazon S3?
The service implements a subset of the S3 API and is compatible with tools such as boto3, rclone, AWS CLI, Cyberduck and s3cmd. It does not support every optional Amazon S3 action. Before ordering, check that your application’s required operations are supported, then configure the service endpoint and credentials.
How exactly is it billed?
The base price is €8.44/month before VAT and includes 1 TB of storage and 1 TB of egress traffic per month. Additional storage costs €0.01131/TB-hour and additional egress costs €1.30/TB. Ingress and internal traffic within the eu-central network zone are free. API calls have no extra cost.
What is object locking and what is it for?
It's a lock that prevents an object from being deleted or overwritten for a period of time, even with the correct credentials. It's mainly used to protect backups against ransomware or accidental deletion, and to meet regulatory retention requirements.
Can I use it as the destination for my backup software?
Yes. Being S3-compatible, it works as a destination in most modern backup software: Duplicati, Veeam, restic, Borgmatic or any tool that supports S3 storage as a backend.
How many buckets can I create?
Up to 100 buckets per account, with a limit of 100 TB and 50 million objects per bucket.
Where is my data stored?
In data centers in Germany and Finland. All data stays within the European Union, with guaranteed GDPR compliance.
Do I need a minimum contract or volume commitment?
No. It's billed monthly based on what you actually use, with no minimum contract or term.
