Can I Change My Main Domain Name?
Yes, you can change your main domain, but you need to keep several important aspects in mind so the change doesn't cause problems. Learn the key differences between a name change and a full reinstallation.
Yes, absolutely, but you need to keep several important aspects in mind so that the change doesn’t cause major problems — and if it does, you’ll know how to fix them.
First.
The new domain name must not be installed on any of our servers. And if it is, you must give us explicit permission to remove it and reinstall it as the main domain.
Second.
You must choose whether you want to reinstall your hosting account with the new domain or change the main domain name on the hosting. These two options are completely different. Reinstalling with the new name involves completely deleting the account and all its contents. It’s ideal if the content of the current hosting is of no use. On the other hand, if the information on the hosting is important and cannot be lost, then you should choose the name change option. When you write to us, clearly indicate whether you want a name change or a reinstallation of the service.
Third.
If you choose a reinstallation, you must be aware that any code that used the old domain name will stop working, since that name will be removed from the server.
Fourth.
If you choose the option to keep the information without any deletion, keep in mind that the new main domain will take over the old main domain’s information. If the new main domain had already been installed on the hosting service as an addon domain, the webmaster will need to move all files to the new location in /public_html/.
