A backup (or backup copy) is a copy of your files and databases that lets you restore your website in the event of failures, errors, or data loss.

At miHosting we care about your peace of mind, which is why we perform two weekly backups of your service:

  • 🖥️ One copy on local servers.
  • ☁️ Another copy on remote servers.

This way, your data stays protected no matter what happens. We know that more than 90% of our clients don’t create their own backups, so we take care of it for you.

However, if you prefer to stay in control, creating your own backup is very easy. Just follow these steps:

📁 Step 1: Back up your files via FTP

  1. Connect to your account using an FTP client (such as FileZilla).
  2. Go to the root directory (/ or public_html) of your website.
  3. Download all the files to a secure folder on your computer.

🗄️ Step 2: Back up your databases

  1. Log in to your control panel (DirectAdmin).
  2. Open the phpMyAdmin section.
  3. Select the database you want to back up.
  4. Click the Export tab and save the .sql file to your computer.

That’s it! ✅ With these steps, you now have a complete copy of your website (files and databases) saved on your computer.

💡 Tip: Create your backups regularly and store them in a safe place, such as an external hard drive or a cloud service.
